I sat with my friend who really likes the concept of my novel and talked for 3 straight hours. I did most of the talking and my voice feels rough, but it was well worth it, since I was able to work on some ideas that I had no clue how I was going to implement. If you write, in my opinion, there are two things you must do: 1) read a LOT;one of my favorite writers, can’t remember which, once said, “Read everything you can get your hands on, back of cereal boxes if you have to.” Amen. 2) talk about your ideas; often times talking is the only way you are going to get out of holes you dig for yourself, and can squelch a bad idea before you can commit it to paper. As the previous entry, I had dug a hole, and spending three hours with my friend had dug me back out. You have no idea how good it felt.

Especially when I worked “Raining Kittens” into the story. THAT takes talent.
